The costly nature of living in Hong Kong has prevented many people from taking that step into becoming entrepreneurs as the costs of starting up a business can often be too much. Even though the Hong Kong government wants Hong Kong to be a start-up and innovation hub, based on Business Insider, Hong Kong does not even rank in the top 20 countries as a start-up hub. Yes it is an easy place to register a business, but finding the seed capital to help you get going, and then turning it into a profit making organisation is a very different challenge.
We have learnt from experience, as one our founders is an entrepreneur having setting up an executive search firm four years ago, that there is huge opportunity to help start-ups and entrepreneurs in Hong Kong.

We are a team of people passionate about about giving start ups the opportunity to develop, grow and flourish. Our founder, Mark Francis, has successfully launched and grown several companies in the FinTech and Recruitment space and has a wealth of experience which he wants to pass on.

Our founders have close to 20 years of sales experience between them and using their knowledge and success as sales, we offer 1-1 coaching helping our clients ensure they are selling their services and products in the most effective and impactful way.

We take a mentor and coach approach to our consultancy, asking questions and providing guidance and advice on your business. We will help you think about different angles from which you can approach your business and provide open and honest feedback.
MEET THE TEAM - THE ORIGINAL TYROS
MARK FRANCIS
Mark has worked within the executive search industry in Asia-Pacific since 2007 focusing primarily on financial services positions from mid-senior level. Mark can be considered by many to be serial entrepreneur and set up his first business in 2012, where he co-founded Silverstrand Executive Search, a boutique financial services headhunting company, working with both buy and sell-side clients across the region.
As a firm believer and early adopter of new technologies to improve our industry he, along with a technology company, developed Grapevine Daily in late 2015 which provides automated updates regarding changes in the Hong Kong SFC register.
At the beginning of 2017 he co-founded Cleverly Search to provide recruitment services to the engineering, construction, project management and architecture industry.
Currently involved in several FinTech initiatives while continuing to run Silverstrand.
DEAN WARD
After graduating from the School of Oriental and African Studies in 2006, Dean joined Thomson Reuters where he has played an integral part in the growth of their Risk & Compliance business across APAC. Having started out as researcher and during the course of his 10+ years at Thomson Reuters, has moved his up to building and leading successful sales teams in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan.
He then joined a US headquartered Risk & Compliance Consultancy to help build and grow their business in Asia where they have experienced year on year growth since his arrival.
A dedicated coach and mentor, he spends a lot of time training and enhancing the soft skills of his sales team.
Dean is also a keen public speaker and is often found speaking at events ranging from Anti-Bribery & Corruption, How to effectively train your staff, through to running risk and compliance workshops for clients.
ALAN FRANCIS
Alan has deep experience within both the corporate world and startup environments, having started his career as a management consultant with KPMG before working for venture capital backed start up LYNK, where he ran the investment client business covering Hong Kong, Singapore and New York. He also has experience working as an independent business developer as in his current role with Oxford Economics, where he is responsible for growing the Hong Kong and Macau business.
Alan has direct experience in start up incubator programs, having been accepted into a DBS backed programme in Singapore, and has been involved in the development of small businesses including a Hong Kong based event management start-up.
He holds an MBA from the University of Bath and possesses qualifications in Fintech from HKU as well as AWS Cloud Practioner certification.
By night and on weekends he devotes his time to music, with a career highlight of being on the same bill as Alicia Keys with his band Gilded Edge.
